Thank you for considering submitting your work to Old Iron Press. We love disobedient forms and books that risk something and are stylistically surprising. We champion classics told anew, irreverent underdogs, the handbuilt, and the hybrid.

At Old Iron Press, we are committed to expanding the reach of diverse voices and communities, and seek work from a wide range of ages. We particularly welcome submissions from those outside the literary community who use the book as their medium.

A few things you should know:

1. We publish work under 30,000 words. Our sweet spot is 7,000 - 20,000.
2. We have a fondness for novellas and novelettes innovating the form.
3. Explorations of process are our jam. We love behind-the-scenes stories and tales of a project.
4. We delight in collaborative and communal writing/projects.

Please submit completed manuscripts, as well as a statement explaining why you feel Old Iron Press is the right publisher for your work.

We do charge a modest reading fee, but think of it as postage. It helps pay for our Submittable costs.

Files: Do not include your name or information in the file or filename of your submission.

Submissions/Withdrawals: Simultaneous submissions are life. Please notify us promptly if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. All correspondence must go through Submittable.

Reporting Time:  Five to six months, although sometimes longer. We reply to all submissions and will be in touch as soon as we can.
